We are pleased to announce that our project has been selected for the 2026 Research Grant Program on New Sewerage Technologies administered by the Japan Institute of Wastewater Engineering and Technology.
| 【Topic】 | Development of a Self-Propelled Inspection Device for Trunk Sewer Pressure Pipelines Insertable via Air Valves |
| 【Researcher】 | Kakogawa Atsushi(Department of Robotics,Ritsumeikan University ) |
| 【Abstract】 | This project aims to develop a self-propelled inspection device for trunk sewer force mains that can be inserted through a 75 mm air valve. Once inside, the device changes into an M-shaped form, allowing it to press its wheels against the pipe wall (200–300 mm in diameter) and move forward. The research focuses on controlling the tension of a wire-driven mechanism and evaluates the device’s ability to pass through bends and inverted siphons, as well as how far it can travel. Field tests in real or near-real sewer environments will be conducted to verify practical applicability. |
